Luke Keeney a Geometallurgical Mapping and Mine Modelling postgraduate student has won the 2009 Ian Morley Prize. Luke is nearing the completion of his PhD at the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre and is the twentieth winner of the award since its inception in 1990 following a bequest from the late Mr Ian Morley, who had formed an association with the JKMRC in the 1960s.
Professor Don McKee presented the 2009 Ian Morley Prize to Luke Keeney. The annual Ian Morley prize acknowledges the best overall performance and achievements as a postgraduate student.
In winning the prize, Luke received a certificate acknowledging the honour and a cheque for $3000. Luke thanked the trustees and paid tribute to Ian Morley, he also thanked a number of staff including Simon Michaux and his supervisor Professor Steve Walters for their continuous support and friendship from his first day at the JKCentre.
